On June 30, 2020, Governor DeSantis issued a third extension of Florida’s Eviction Moratorium. Executive Order Number 20-159 extends the moratorium on residential evictions for non-payment of rent until August 1, 2020. Landlords should not serve 3-Day Notices until after this moratorium ends. The order only affects residential evictions involving non-payment of rent.
Landlords are still permitted to file commercial evictions and residential evictions for other matters, including lease violations, holdover tenants after lease expiration, and termination of month to month tenancies.
In addition, this moratorium does not affect properties that are otherwise covered under the Federal CARES Act eviction moratorium. For more information on the CARES Act, click here.
